New York, NY (April 22, 2022) - Particle Kid, aka Micah Nelson’s experimental, psychedelic, future-folk project has released their magnum opus, TIME CAPSULE, a 26-song musical journey through time, space and consciousness. Available digitally, on compact disc and inside a limited edition hempcrete time capsule, forged by Micah himself - each time capsule includes a thumb drive including the record, videos, printed album artwork, industrial hemp seeds which cultivated by Micah, and a physical ticket to a Particle Kid concert in 20 years. People can then fill the time capsule with their own mementos and reconnect with it decades from now. “It feels like we are experiencing a major plot point in history for better or worse, and the idea of collaging all this music into a literal time capsule was interesting,” Micah noted. “It’s like an interactive art piece.” Watch a making-of video via YouTube. With the double-album’s arrival, Micah has shared a video for the record’s latest single, “Mycorrhiphone.” Discussing the track, Micah simply noted, “I think this song is about… having consciousness? Being a … person? Whatever place it’s coming from, it makes me feel super good when I hear it! It’s also fun to play. Uplifting. I think it would be a good way to kick off a live show. I look forward to that…” You can catch Particle Kid live, supporting the Flaming Lips, April 25 - May 9 [all dates below].
TIME CAPSULE takes listeners on a trip through various genres, ideas and sounds - an eclectic palette of sonic colors, both familiar and exploratory. Feelings painted together like a collage, as if 90s alt, 60s psych, 70s electric jazz, and some abstract future were all magazines — chopped up and somehow cohesively glued together by Micah’s voice and lyrics. The album includes guest appearances from Jim James, Sean Ono Lennon, J Mascis, Margo Price, The Lovely Eggs, and for the first time, Micah’s dad Willie Nelson, amongst others [track list below].
