The Caliopians are a California band (hence the Cali in our name) steeped in the sounds of the southern desert, the coastal surf towns, Bakersfield twang, and the inner city we live in. Opians cause we have a big place in our hearts and heads for Ethiopian jazz and Afro Cuban diaspora sounds. A big slice of Klezmer and what ever else falls into our listening life. The music we write and record all sounds like us, but different aspects of our roots end up in each separate number. |
