Widespread Panic returned to Lincoln's Pinewood Bowl for the 2nd summer in a row, as it continues its trek westward. The folks of Lincoln should feel lucky that a band on it's way to extending it's record number of sell out's at Colorado's Red Rocks makes a pit stop in the Cornhusker state.
After a very fine opening set from Galactic, which included covers of James Brown ( Its a mans world ) Alicia Keys ( Falling ) and the Jackson Five ( I want you back ) Widespread kicked things off with their own cover of" Travelin Light " ( JJ Cale ) " Glory" " and One arm Steve ". Mid set another JJ Cale tune " Ride me High " was unleashed. The highlight of the night for me was when Galactic members Maggie Koerner ( vocals) Ben Ellman ( sax ) Corey Henry ( trombone ) sat in for a slow burning " House of The Rising son " ( first time since 11/23/01, 849 shows )& " Up all Night ".A 3 song encore " Carmelita " ( Warren Zevon ) " Space Wrangler" >" Mr Soul" ( Buffalo Springfield ) ended the night and sent the crowd on it's way with two things on it's mind. Thanks for stopping by & anybody up for a road trip to Red Rocks ?
