Great American Taxi Announce New lineup and future plans for band

Great American Taxi and Vince Herman have decided it is in the best interest of the band and everyone involved to part ways starting in 2014.  Vince recently moved to Oregon to settle down and spend more time on his farm, and his other band, Leftover Salmon, have become very active again absorbing much of Herman's time.  Great American Taxi has wanted to play more and follow up on the success of their last two albums, which landed them in the top 10 on the Americana radio charts.  The band took their time over the last four or five months and decided to offer the job to Taylor Sims.  Some will remember Sims from his days fronting Colorado favorites Spring Creek Bluegrass Band from Lyons, CO.  Sims, a Texas native, is an accomplished songwriter and multi-instrumantalist, who has lived in Colorado for the last eight years.  Founding member Chad Staehly and Taxi veterans Jim Lewin, Chris Sheldon, and Brian Adams will continue down the road as they have for the last 5+ years with the same driving rhythm, telecaster, piano and harmony-vocal powered jams they have honed over many a mile and many a smoky late-night performance.

Also joining Taxi for this next chapter (as an honorary member and helping with their forthcoming album) will be long-time collaborator Todd Snider, who the band has backed up on numerous shows and albums.  Snider also produced Taxi's last release Paradise Lost.  Taxi recently spent more than a week at Coupe Studios in Boulder working on the new album and will return to the studio in April, Snider in tow, to finish the recording.  People should expect something new, but with the same strong songwriting and live performance energy the band has become known for.  The untitled new release is slated to come out in late 2014.  In the meantime, Taxi will be hitting the road with the new line-up along with some of the new material starting in March.

Great American Taxi is excited to offer fans and friends a sneak peek into the new songs and sounds the band has been working on in the studio.  For a taste of the new albums sound, visit the links below.
