On March 20, Larry Keel and Natural Bridge independently release their 9th CD entitled, Classic, with the trademark blend of ultra powerful acoustic instrumentation, penetrating vocals and intelligent and gutsy song-writing. Classic features flatpicking guitar legend Larry Keel leading the charge with his gravelly voice and blazing licks; Jenny Keel on bass and vocals; Mark Schimick on mandolin; Will Lee holding it down on banjo. For the second year in a row, guitar legend and master fisherman, Larry Keel is pleased to share his passions at “Trout & Tunes” – a three-night and two-day marathon of good fishin, pickin and eatin, all at the Elk River Inn’s good lodgin’.
An Appalachian native who’s toured extensively, Larry Keel is well-known for his in-your-face interpretation of Bluegrass meets Heavy Metal meets Gypsy Jazz and so on, delivered with his authentic singing and award-winning flatpicking. In addition to his own work with the Natural Bridge, Larry has performed and recorded with such talented and diverse artists as Keller Williams, Yonder Mt. String Band, Trombone Shorty, Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Bela Fleck, Tony Rice, Sam Bush and Chris Thile. At Trout and Tunes, guests will be hanging out at the Elk River Inn, Cabins & Restaurant located in the high peaks of West Virginia. Elk River has plenty of things to do when you’re not learning a new lick. Fly and spin casting for trout, hiking and mountain bike trail right out the door or just relaxing with a cold beverage near the campfire. Everyone is a VIP at Trout & Tunes!
Planned activities include several fly fishing clinics offered during the day by Elk River guides and staff; Andrew White (the builder of one of Larry’s guitars) will be speaking on what it takes to construct an instrument with parts of instruments in different stages and much more. Also guitar, mandolin, banjo and bass guitar instruction will be the highlight throughout guest’s stay. Evening picking sessions on Thursday, Friday will build up to a very special concert Saturday evening to cap things off. All meals from Thursday evening through Sunday breakfast are included in this very special weekend. The judging is based on numbers of views on YouTube, so it needs to be posted as a video to YouTube.
