Pick up Trash While Hiking: While out for a summer hike, pick up garbage as your walking. Obviously, it's difficult to handle large quantities of trash on a leisurely hike, but to pick up a few wrappers here and there, adds up if everyone does it. You can take it one step further and bring a backpack along to carry larger quantities of trash.
Looking for a good way to spend an afternoon with friends? Organize a day out to clean a waterway or park. There are plenty of areas in every town which could use a little TLC and it's nice way to spend an afternoon with friends while giving back to the earth and your community at the same time.
Support the Parks! Many parks reply on visitors' donations and/or fees to enter the park, or camp, to keep the park in good shape. By visiting the parks, you're helping to make sure that they stick around for years to come.
Don't Release Balloons into the Air: Many kids enjoy letting go of their balloons to watch them soar into the sky and as much as this might be fun for all who are watching, these balloons frequently make it to bodies of water and can harm marine life. If nothing else, they will find their way back down and litter the ground.
Encourage Conservation and Enjoyment of our Earth to your Children: Children need to be taught the importance of conserving the natural beauty of the earth and helping to keep it clean. To teach your children early on this importance will help create a better future for everyone.
