They want to be able to sell more day passes, so they moved it to Bicentennial Park in downtown Miami. There will be no camping. Late night sets will cost extra and will be at other venues on South Beach. The reported ticket price will be between 175-200 for weekend pass. That's more than last year, that included camping, late night sets and one more day of music. There is also a sound ordinance of 12 to shut everything down in downtown Miami. This is a big bummer. I can only guess that the festival wasn't welcome back on the Big Cypress reservation this year. The middle-of-nowhere Everglades location couldn't be beat. Big blue sky in every direction, plenty of room for everyone, and of course camping in your own tent. There'll be none of that in 2009. Instead we'll get inadequate parking, expensive hotel rooms for those from out of town, and a smaller venue. Oh, and more Miami police than you can shake a stick at.
